Street side this was about as safe as any Chicago neighborhood. Parking was 10/10, safe, secure and gated. The 3 flights up was expected, but the strong cat/pet urine odor the entire way up was not. Inside apt also has a very strong pet urine smell. No window covering in bathroom, can’t turn on bedroom light or it blinks, floor vent in kitchen easily moves to reveal gaping hole, heavily stained couch my teen had to sleep on. It was way too small unless a young child was sleeping on it. There was really nothing that could be done about most of what I listed so I did not bother the owner. But I think it’s fair the next people know. Also-I asked to just park my car there before check in. They direct you to a landing page that charges for early check-in, which would have been pricey. It’s not that they have to allow this, but wld have been so kind to guests esp given all the above. (We paid for parking cheaply down the road.)

This property offers a solid benefit with its secure, gated parking, which is a major plus in Chicago. However, potential guests should be aware of several important factors that impacted our stay. The listing's photos did not accurately convey that accessing the unit requires climbing three flights of stairs, which could be challenging for those with mobility issues or heavy luggage. Furthermore, the property is not single-family home but a close-quartered neighborhood, a duplex. This led to significant noise disruption from audible neighbors and frequent dog barking, which affected our ability to relax.Recommendation: This is a practical choice if you primarily need a secure place to park and sleep while spending most of your time out exploring the city. For those planning to work from the property or desire a quiet, tranquil retreat, it may not be the most ideal location due to the noise and stair access.
